99 degrees, moving & missing Canada

So we're moving today to an apt that is cheaper but bigger. (go figure...I'm a rhyme-er). That's the upside, the downside is we only have 4 hours to do so (truck rental and help available) and it's 99degrees today. Which leads me to a bit of home-sickness. Watched a movie last night that had a NY winter scene. I miss the cold weather. I fear I shall never feel a true chill again. Rumor has it that God made a deal with Kansas that if he could use this area as a testing groud for the lake of fire then we would get underacheiving football & baseball teams.

Tomorrow it will hit 100. That's just sick. I remember sitting in my home town as a kid thinking to myself that if ever I visited a place that was that hot, I'd combust. I was wrong....you're too soaked from sweating to catch fire, so I figure now that melting is the result. We have a 6month lease and hopefully by then we'll be ready to get a house. Plus I hope by december, the mercury drops to at least the 80's..who knows... a man can dream eh?

I love the heart of a child

This past Sunday we had a change of pace and played some kickball. Great tiem, great fun. We had some 6th graders who learned that not winning can be fun and some 1st graders were shown some grace by the older kids. This is a picture of Dalton Hill encouraging Kenton Huff. See the girls handily beat the boys (with some help from the leaders) and Dalton here felt the need to pat Kenton of the back and encourage him. I love the heart of a child. Dalton had been injured during the game (a large 6th grader fell on his head *ouch*), but still in a daze, he seeks out a discouraged Kenton and gives him the old "we'll get 'em next time".

I love my life.

encouragment never gets old...

Last night I had my first team meeting. It was great. Some key members couldn't make it but it was still great. I love my "job".

During the dry years, there were a few sections of the Word that kept me encouraged. One such passage lifted me up several times. The Message puts it in a way that really spoke to me. I shared it last night for one of our team members since she's going through the struggle of working less so she can serve more. What a heart!

here's the passage:

jeremiah 29:11-14

"...I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I'll listen. 1When you come looking for me, you'll find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I'll make sure you won't be disappointed." God's Decree. I'll turn things around for you. I'll bring you back from all the countries into which I drove you —God's Decree— bring you home to the place from which I sent you off into exile. You can count on it."

Be encouraged.
