...

I find myself in awe of the Father, but in a new way. It's not because of a grand vision or new level of intimacy experience, but it's in watching how close a child can draw to the Father.
This past Wednesday night, we had "encounter" and as usual, before praying together, we spent time listening to God's voice. This night was different. Following an amazing retreat with the 5th & 6th graders where amazing steps and leaps of faith took place, "encounter" was running long, so we didn't have enough time for the next segment, but we still had 20 minutes. In a moment of epiphany like consciousness, I told the kids to spread out. To be at least arms lenght away from their neighbor and to get in a comfy spot. They knew were going to be listening for God to speak to us, so the quietly and reverently found a spot in the sanctuary. Normally we spend 30 seconds tops in utter silence, anxisouly listening for the Lord to speak, but this time was different. It was about 10 minutes. not a kid moved, no one got restless. It was one of the most awesome things I have ever experience. They listened and were reverent. Even the hyper ones sat there, waiting on God. I called them back after 10 minutes and they all gathered together, so quietly it was eery. We prayed together, I reminded them that God was always with them, and they could stop, be still and listen to God all the time. They didn't need to wait till "encounter" or Sunday AM.

I am in awe, of the way these kids are responding to the Father's call. There's are 5 year olds, waiting with baited breath to hear God, and with great excitement wanting to share what he told them. These are 8 year olds, who have touch the face of God and know they've experience something, but don't want to speak of it, because it's so sacred.

I have dreamed of such things, but my faith did not allow me to truly expect it. He is able to do more than we can ever dream or imagin. He is taking these children, and transforming them into his likeness, taking them on a journey to rediscover the image they were created in.

I am in awe. Who am I, that the Father, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, would permit me to not only see this, but be a part of something so big, so much bigger than I, so far beyonf the scope of my power or influence or dreams even...who am I....I am in awe.
